Different URL, same brand of everything else you're all used to...

And I mean that... really, I do.

Since Ampcast has become increasingly less predictable to perform as it should because it's falling apart all over the place and closing down, I have taken it upon myself to move the show while the going is good...

The start of February seems like a good time for a whole new start to Audio Coffee - which is unofficially 2 years old then.

This coming week will be spent getting promos ready and one or two other little treats. My 'Audio Coffee Choir' have been clearing their throats in anticipation of making some new promos - and I won't let them down :-)

Finally, they've a reason not to go on strike (as they did when I was at ampcast!)

So tune in next Sunday for whats going to be quite a unique show :-)
and it would be nice to see you in there...

Stockport Bus Station... the final frontier, these are the continuing voyages of Patrick Stewart....

... ok, lame headline, but it should attract Star Trek fans in their... ooo... dozens...

Patrick Stewart was in Manchester not so long ago filming a new tv series, well, that series is called '11th Hour' and it's great!
He plays government scientist Ian Hood. Resplendent with vague Bradford accent, he's buggering off around the city to bloody well find people who dabble in things they shouldn't and getting a good ticking off for it.

Now, I don't know if it's me, or if it's got anything at all whatsoever to do with the fact that because the BBC and ITV are reorganising in this region as to why they've had a mad filming spree in Stockport town centre and beyond, but
I know that when I'm watching tv now, I'm almost sensing a huge load of de ja vous on an unprecedented scale.

Life On Mars (see earlier post) is also brilliant.

So, it's not been a bad week. Next week, I'll be watching these programmes to highlight more parts of town I've been through at some point in my life.

Life on Mars: Houldsworth Mill, Reddish
11th Hour: Stockport Bus station, stands L,M, N and P. Urbis, Manchester City centre, behind the Arndale.

To follow up whats been said already, the black and white film 'A Taste of Honey' was filmed in Stockport in the early 1960's at St Marys Church, on the market brew.

To cap off a great week, the healthy living project I went to, was worth the shopping vouchers. And here's to a radio course starting at the beginning of February.
Also, more pictures to come on the redevelopment project here and the construction of the new shops and some possible rants for no reason whatsover.

Life on Mars (BBC1) Mondays 9pm (UK time)

What an absolute cracking series! Not only has it got my attention 100%, but... it's filmed right in the parts of town where I grew up!
The plot is a cop in 2006 gets injured, but he wakes up 33 years ago in 1973 and is struggling to cope with why he's there and the policing methods of way back then. Only when his concious is pricked by the world of 2006 trying to wake him out of a coma does he realise there's something going on and he can't escape that he's stuck in 1973 but tries his best to live with it.
It's a bit like 'Peggy Sue Got Married' but with the British Police...
And I can't fault the makers on the detail - it's spot-on :-)

I love the show... although, I do admit, it's like *I* am the one going back 33 years each week!

"Hey! I know that!!" I say, as I scream my head off pointing at the screen at a location that I was brought up in...

"I know EXACTLY where that was filmed!" is another response, usually with the same amount of finger pointing at the tv and the screaming...

My only thing is... if they've filmed in *all* the locations I've ever lived around.. I'm in danger of running into myself...

But for now, Kudos to Kudos...

Ampcast - the end? already??

Ever since yesterday, and I'm not going to put a time on it, Ampcast has been down. The only things that work at present are the hotline and the raido bot (the dawg) but access is denied or witheld for whatever reason across ampcast.com so... assuming that the great ampcast close-down has started, then I suppose for now, what few dj's there are left at ampcast, they can kiss goodbye to their shows... no fanfare, no parties... nothing.
I cannot access anything regarding the radio side to bring a show. I do hope that this is only a temporary thing and that some life will be injected back - just until the end of February, but if this is it...

So, there will not be an Audio Coffee broadcast today (Sunday 22nd January 2006) and even though I could try later, I don't think there's time enough to advertise a show for later anyway.

So, thanks for the run, Ampcast.. it's been good... that is.. if you really have gone.

I'll just have to keep my eye on things and see whats what during the week. In fact, I'm going to send everyone over to the Cotolo Chronicles weblog because he's the one thats going to be (hopefully) interviewing the boss of ampcast on his show on Thursday - links to other ways of listening to one of the many rebroadcasters are available on his weblog as it isn't clear yet whether or not he'll be able to broadcast via ampcast.

Thats all the news there is for now... more here as it happens WHEN it happens...

Final shows on AMPCAST

As you're all aware, Ampcast.com will cease to be as of the end of February 2006...
There's still been no word from the sites bosses as to what will happen, so, until then, it's business as usual from yours truly every Sunday until such time that there won't be a show any more... (as we speak, we're looking at rehoming the show elsewhere) and to reflect that, here's a list of the final show dates - concluding with a possible special show at the end of February...

AUDIO COFFEE DATES:

(SHOW TIMES REMAIN *UNCHANGED* 7am EST, 12noon in the UK and 1pm CET)

January 2006:

22nd
29th

February 2006:

5th
12th
19th
26th

More news will appear here as and when there's anything else to report. BUT... assuming that the 26th is going to be the last ever show EVER, then... it's going to be a major massive spectacle...

Ampcast down.. show DELAYED....

Due to technical reasons beyond my control, Ampcast.com seems to be down, so, rather than totally cancel, todays edition will be delayed until approximately 5pm. If ampcast isn't back by that time, then a further attempt will be made at 8:30pm UK time. Should THAT fail... then the show will be postponed until sometime during the week. Keep checking back here for news if thats the case.
Ta very much peops.

[edit] show's on folks... go to: HTTP://HOTLINE.AMPCAST.COM

And just to add to that, a show DID happen at 5pm which you can download from http://www.ampcast.com/audiocoffee

From this week on...

Because of having to reinstall everything (again) on this computer, and knowing that I've managed to save everything to numerous cd's (lets face it, with this computer you HAVE TO) all Audio Coffee music played will be from those that are currently still with Ampcast and those who have left. I've just got far too much stuff to list it all, but there's a comprehensive and extensive list of people/artists whose music I listen to and you've heard all that I have, so it's not like I'm not sharing anything - and besides.. it's way too much effort to copy stuff from cds' and then go through the ampcast a-z listing of artists and delete stuff... it would take too long, trust me, I know my archived stuff THAT well...
With that in mind, there's a list of the final Audio Coffee shows on ampcast at THIS LINK and I thank the people responsible for that link... my html still sux after 6 years of being on the internet...

So, yeah.. it's my show, I'll call the final shots.

Thanks...

Happy 2006!

I think I must've blinked or something... we're now in another fresh year! Either that, or the 35% proof liqueur was really kicking in..
Anyway! Whats going to happen in 2006? WAY TOO MUCH!
You'll just have to learn to bookmark this delightful site and come back and check it on a regular basis as I'll probably be so up to my eyeballs in stuff to be able to stop and chat.
Things that look likely to happen in 2006:
FINALLY! The redevelopment work here that should've started a long time ago. I'll be out there armed with a whole plethora of recording gadgetry collecting and archiving stuff together to eventually, create a masterpiece worthy of possibly putting onto dvd at some point - probably to sell and raise funds for the area in which I live.
I'll also be doing a lot more with radio - because it's one thing I've had a strong fascination for ever since I was a little girl.
I know that at some point, the radio show I host on ampcast will cease to be, but I'll keep the show title because it's so unique. If I had the wherewithall to do something, I'd start my own station on a dedicated server - who knows? in time, maybe that could happen, but I won't speculate! I have other things to think about!
Various courses await me in 2006. I look forward to doing them. In fact, any doable challenge in 2006 is warmly welcomed - helps to pad the ol' CV out a bit, hehehe!
But first up for 2k6 is Jury Service and my birthday - and yes, both at the same time, which sux a bit, but... I've got this thing about not doing the same thing twice and in the past, my impressive record of celebrating my birthday doing unusual things or being in strange places remains largely unchanged.
But anyway, back to putting the nose back to the grindstone - 2k6 is going to be exhausting and full. A far cry from 2005, where it quite literally was 'the year of the injured knee'. Ok, thats still an ongoing thing, but.. thankfully, it's slowly healing.
I'm making the most of this holiday weekend. From Tuesday onwards, fun and frolicks ensue and who knows, by this time next year, I can finally sit down and put my feet up and relax a bit :-)

[edited 4th Jan 2006]
Since writing this, it now seems as though I won't be doing any jury service until the middle of the month - for some reason that completely escapes me, I wasn't notified of a change in the dates. This now means I've got to reshedule some minor things, but as for my birthday tomorrow, I thankfully have nothing to do except enjoy myself and collapse of the exhaustion brought about by the lack of sleep I've recently been experiencing (one hours sleep on Monday night and three the night before).
So, I don't think I'll be drinking much in the way of alcohol because when I'm THIS tired, I'm a little sensitive and prone to moments of lapses of concentration and anything else that may occur (such as putting coffee in the fridge and my purse in the oven)
So, please bear with me for the next 48 hours at least while some sort of recovery process kicks in.
