And with Christmas approaching quicker than you can say 'sleigh bells'... it's time for me to announce my usual weekend away. There will be NO Audio Coffee on the 11th December this year as I won't be in this particular part of the UK to broadcast.

What a week!
Frost, fog, sunshine, rain, snow... and thats just in the last 5 days!
Snow is on the way, so they reckon, so expect Sundays show this week to be filled with the chattering of teeth and the much swearing at how bloody cold it is and on the other hand, a regular 'is it snowing?' update.
Got a packed show this week, lots of stuff going on. Don't forget that this is the last week for entries to the Coffee Cup Challenge (entries will be played next week and the news on Decembers challenge will be posted here too)so you havent got much time if you are only looking now and want to take part.

Well, what can I say? he's an alcoholic who looks like he'll be no longer with us shortly as he lies in intensive care in a very bad way.
What a superb way to highlight the perils of binge drinking and 24 hour pub opening times!

If there's one thing, forget the football, George Best will always be known for living the highlife and paying dearly for it - a lesson there for a LOT of people methinks.

I won't be able to cry if/as/when he goes, if I do, it's because I've had links with alcoholics (the sort that can't be helped because they don't want to admit to it)
and it's more out of pity than anything else.
Sorry, but if you really think it's cool to drink like a fish like that, you're sadly mistaken.

Ironic in a week, when smokers become the hardest hit and are practically banned from a lot of places! I'd rather be in a room full of smokers than several alcoholics - at least they can think a lot clearer without mumbling and stumbling over words and falling over their own shadows, throwing up or peeing in the corner of the room.

Priorities eh?

November November NOVEMBER!

Grr.. and the month isn't all that old as I sit and write this either.
Lets start with the fact that the month didn't exactly start according to plan - at all. Out shopping, I had a slight accident. As I left the supermarket, I approached the kerb, walking, as I usually do, when my left ankle suddenly doesn't and buckles underneath me, sending me towards the floor of the carpark. Naturally, instincts kick in and I put my hands out. TOO LATE. I injure my right knee (the same one I injured earlier this year) and slightly graze both of my hands.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank both my finacee and the couple who came along to scrape me up off the floor. Thank you.
Today, it's all hurtin'. The hands, the ankle and especially, the knee, which has gone several shades of red since and looks like it's going to become one massive looking bruise.
No shopping suffered as a consequence of my fall - just a few broken crisps and I slightly knocked the tops off two cartons of fresh curry (Vindaloo and Rogan Josh).
Not that I have any more intentions on becoming too familiar with the floor of the car park of Tesco yet again.
I can't thank the staff there - completely ignorant as per usual. The staff they have on/around/near the main entrance might as well be cardboard cut-outs. I thank my lucky stars that I'm not a pensioner and not suffering too greatly - although, that said, I do tolerate pain better, more than some.
I'm watching my knee - if it does anything untoward in the next 24 hours, I'm making an appointment with the doctor - I have a rule about giving anything 48 hours grace and if it doesn't go of it's own accord or nothing works, then the appointment is made. Thing is, I'm not one to go off in a blinding panic - unless there's thunder in the air, and thats another story.

Bonfire Night is almost upon us yet again. 400 years since the foiling of the gunpowder plot. Google can link you to tons of resources, so I won't link to any.
It's the time of year where neighbours can be found clinging onto the letterbox to catch the aroma of parkin baking in the oven. The recipe can be found in the 'Farmhouse Kitchen Cookbook' page 325 (I think, don't quote me, it's headed under 'Cheshire Parkin') you can probably buy that book at a reasonable price off eBay no doubt.
As traditional as treacle toffee, jacket potatoes, roast chestnuts and parkin, my good friend Howie is going to be putting on a bonfire night concert. This event is not one to be missed. Be a fool if you DO miss it. Link will be put here over the coming days where you can find further information on it, so do please watch this space!

Thats all the news there is for the time being. My PC seems a lot better now for its reinstallation (clean install) of Windows XP and is functioning as well as can be expected.
Which is more than I can say for myself................ and I'd laugh, but it hurts.
