Some Stuff...

So totally amazing.. and I mean it...

if you have realplayer... click this link ... and be amazed as a whale in Japan blows air bubble rings at spectators!

And on a less-than-spectacular note... it might be worth watching *THIS* video to illustrate that calmness is the key when waiting for a prog to load on a computer, regardless of a) how long it takes and b) how long it takes....
*note* although this is entirely in german... screaming and yelling in any language all sounds the same!

Coffee Cup Challenge for the month of March

Greetings and all that you music making people you!
Time to spill the beans (coffee beans) on what will be the challenge that will run through until the last week in March.

I'll keep it simple for now but...the challenge is to create a 3 minute track (at least) featuring the sound of construction - like mechanical diggers and dump trucks and drills and hammers (no, the hammers on your piano *don't count*!)- that sort of thing.

All entries submitted will be aired on the last Sunday in March.

Ta very much.

Audio Coffee - this coming Sunday

Will be something of a sendentary affair as both computers here have had to be formatted and reinstalled and all the rest of it. Installation spree time...yippeee!
(NOT!)
I'm not really planning on anything, except maybe the reimplementation of the 'Audio Coffee - Coffee Cup Challenge'.
Which reminds me, I need to think about the challenge that will run until the end of March - because February is such a short month!
The challenge is dead simple, all you have to do (if you wish to participate) is create something - at least 3 minutes in duration and I'll play anything and everything if it's as good as it is unique - I want to fire your imaginations and inspire you musicians out there to be as creative as I am cunning.

More later this week, and if not, news will be generated here ASAP. Time for your involvement people!!! :-)

The shops here are STILL open for business...

I'm saying this because a very dear shop owner we know is suffering from lack of trade because, the area that has been fenced off in readiness for the redevelopment work, doesn't include the current shops that are there, but people are blind and only see what they want to see - and they don't see that this wonderful establishment is still open for business...
Thing is, our dear friend, Mr Khan, owns possibly the best goddamned fish and chip shop in the area and he's urging people to visit to eat possibly the largest kebabs you're ever likely to get for less than £5 - and I'm not kidding!!!
I swear, a friend of mine bought a kebab from there and I thought he was bringing in a newborn baby - thats HOW BIG THE KEBABS ARE!!!

Of course, you're going to want to know where this fabulous place is, well, I'll tell you...

Taj Mahal
Brinnington Arcade shops,
Brinnington,
Stockport.

He'd love your custom at the moment and you won't get better or friendlier service!

Tuesday, 14th February, 2006.
Having just done a little shopping in town, I called at the post office here to pay some bills - well, I would've done, had someone not decided to destroy the post office with what looks to have been a baseball bat. I only hope and pray that the Post Office staff (who by far are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet) are fine and that they can hold everything together and make a speedy recovery from this rather nasty incident. My thoughts to them at this time. May the police find whoever did this.
Now people have to walk to the other side of this estate to the other post office. It's a fair walk from here too.
Thanks, Mr.Inconsiderate-vandal. I hope someone has as much thought for your home as you do our post office.

Lots of things going on,can't be bothered to do anything...

Thats because, this time last week, I was as busy as anything - totally. This week has been a long slow preparation week so that everything I need is in place for Sundays first broadcast on cygnusradio.com.
The 'Audio Coffee Singers' have been on their best behaviour so far and with any luck, by Sunday, they'd have done me proud :-)

For new readers to this weblog (and I know some of you are) this is dedicated to the goings on inbetween shows that may/may not contain details of whats coming up on Sundays broadcasts - and the stuff that (for one reason or another) gets forgot about by Sunday - and it can, plus links to stuff thats a bit useless on air unless someone invents something that makes a browser pop-open when you hear a link given out on air.

Things we do on the show:

Well, we play a LOT of electronica, but sometimes, something comes along that isn't - but as I'm a soft-touch for the ocassional bit of anything that isn't rap, heavy metal or comes under the label 'pop', the shows main genre is 'what the dj likes' and that tends to be 95% instrumental based stuff.

There's also the 'Audio Coffee - Coffee Cup Challenge' which is where I set a monthly challenge to come up with a piece of original material from scratch using an idea.
So for example..
"A 3 minute long track which must include a washing machine, a budgerigar and a vacuum cleaner"
All entries are played, and it's just for fun - and it keeps some of the musicians out there inspired.

And lets not forget 'Around the Coffee Table' which is a non-frequent event where new artists to my archive get a chance to be heard. So far, three new artists have been heard this way and it's a nice little featurette :-)

Other things? Well, depends whats going on in the chatroom - if it's funny, it's worth mentioning!

Of course, the show will not be archived in the future... if you can't listen in live, then you're going to miss out and you'll have a week to wait before the next show. But then again, you never know - things, like the weather, can change...

Upcoming Events:

A lot! At the end of March, around these parts, there's an annual lantern procession, so I'll be following that one way or another and focusing the show on that.
Redevelopment work in this area: will be followed as and when it is appropriate to do so. Naturally, a close eye on this needs to be maintained and thats what I'll be doing. Bringing my community to the global internet community - why? because we can and I've been asked to!
Plus other things of interest to people - if it's relevant, it gets a mention!

If you're a musician with hot news, or want some airplay or you have an event you want me to mention - communicate with me during my show at the Cygnus chatroom and we'll get something sorted.

I think that covers EVERYTHING!
Now for a coffee and a sit down :-)
